Keynote Address - Abstract
"Industry and Manufacturing Strategies and Technologies in the era of AI - Bridging Digital Horizons."

Artificial Intelligence (ISO 42001:2023) provides businesses, industry and manufacturing engineers, both risks and opportunities for assessment, adaption and adoption for providing incremental and step-change productivity and quality improvements.

However, AI as with all technologies and IT enabled business transformations, requires organisations to define and stabilized processes or, make what is done badly, just quicker.

Four aspects for management, manufacturing and industrial engineers along with university and technical college curricula to consider:

  • AI and Intelligent Process Automation potentially offer both an incremental process change and step-change innovation for better improving supply chains
  • Industry reality – the challenges for intelligent manufacturing but relevance of industrial engineering in this context for innovation and intelligent manufacturing
  • Interoperability and interchangeability with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as guided for implementing ISO 42001:2023 “AIMS”
  • Innovative manufacturing by revitalising and respect for industrial engineering disciple when facing a plethora of AI based methodologies and IT enablers not constrainers
  • Implications for technical colleges and pathways to undergraduate curriculum design, development and delivery blending AI with management, manufacturing and industrial engineering disciplines.

He will share insights from IT enabled business transformation such as AI, IPA and AVA technologies and digitisation engagements from defence, manufacturing and government.
